Create a photoreal roster of patients for ECPI University's nursing edutainment learning modules, focusing on developing soft skills through lifelike human interactions. Utilizing Character Creator 4 and iClone, we aimed to produce realistic human animations to enhance the educational experience. Patient Descriptions 1. Patient A Description: Patient A is a young woman with a rich, dark complexion, and expressive eyes. Her realistic skin texture and subtle facial expressions were crafted to simulate real-life patient interactions. This character is designed to help nursing students develop empathy and communication skills, providing a diverse range of scenarios. Use Case: Simulated patient interviews. Teaching cultural competency. Practicing bedside manner and patient care techniques. 2. Patient B Description: Patient B is an older man with distinguished features, including silver hair and glasses, reflecting a more experienced patient profile. His detailed skin texture, including wrinkles and age spots, adds to the realism. This character aids in training students to handle complex medical conditions and communicate effectively with elderly patients. Use Case: Managing chronic conditions. Developing patience and effective communication with older adults. Practicing comprehensive patient assessments. 3. Patient C Description: Patient C is a middle-aged man with a warm smile and realistic facial features, including a neatly trimmed beard. His approachable appearance makes him ideal for scenarios that require building rapport and trust. This character helps students refine their interpersonal skills and handle various medical situations with confidence. Use Case: Conducting health history interviews. Building patient rapport and trust. Practicing diagnostic and treatment discussions. Process 1. Character Creation: Character Creator 4: Used to design and sculpt each patient’s appearance, ensuring high levels of photorealism and diversity. Substance Painter: Applied detailed textures and materials to enhance the realism of the skin, hair, and other features. 2. Animation: iClone: Implemented lifelike animations to simulate realistic patient movements and expressions, providing a dynamic learning experience. 3. Integration: Integrated the animated characters into ECPI University's learning modules, ensuring seamless interactions and realistic scenarios. Results Enhanced Learning Experience: Students reported an improved ability to empathize with patients and handle real-life situations more effectively. Diverse Scenarios: The photoreal patient roster allowed for a wide range of educational scenarios, improving students' soft skills and clinical competencies. Positive Feedback: Both instructors and students praised the realistic interactions, which contributed to more engaging and effective learning modules.
